COOPER GRANT

On February 28, 2007, CEC awarded $480,000 for the construction of eighteen (18) single family homes in the Cooper Grant neighborhood. With additional financing from the ERB, NJHMFA, the City of Camden and Wachovia Bank, the project provides Camden’s first market rate housing development in over twenty years. The project is adjacent and within walking distance of the Camden Aquarium, the Waterfront, Rutgers University and the Campbell’s Field Ballpark. This project was sponsored by Cooper Grant Neighborhood Association in partnership with Pennrose Properties.
GRACE HOUSING – PHASE 2
Camden Lutheran Housing, Inc. sponsored the development of Grace Phase 2, a fifteen (15) single family housing development consisting of three (3) bedrooms units with fenced rear yards and off-street parking. Located in the Cooper Point Neighborhood, the Camden Empowerment Corporation awarded $375,000 towards development cost in concert with the State of New Jersey, CAMDEN Home Program, Susquehanna Patriot Bank and NJ Dept. of Community Affairs. With reasonable access to Camden’s downtown and Delaware River Waterfront, regional healthcare facilities, public transportation and Rutgers University, these homes were completed and sold by February 2009.
GATEWAY & LANNING HOUSING

The CEC sponsored the rehabilitation of homeowner occupied units in the Gateway and Lanning Square neighborhood. CEC’s Homeowner Rehabilitation Program (GHORP) was administered in concert with the City of Camden. The housing program provided funds to qualified homeowners (owner occupants) of single family residential properties to assist them in addressing long term maintenance repairs, upgrading essential systems (heating, electrical and plumbing), winterization repairs (windows, doors) and general exterior improvements. From April 2007 to July 2009, the CEC provided twenty-five (25) homeowners forgivable loans of up to $15K to address various housing issues.
